#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream

Chocolate Chip wearing Brittany’s Collar

A good night’s sleep and a bright sunny day. My daughter took Chip last night duty. I took him this morning. Missed my walk, but took him around a bit. We have a baby in the house, so there’s a change in routine. We have to all take turns caregiving. He’s worth it. The cuddler. He’s actually very sweet and lovable and adorable. He likes my bare ankles with his sharp teeth but will be distracted by toys. It was a three group day. I had poetry workshop and somehow managed to revise a poem this morning before workshop. Then I had my Ukrainian group which meets monthly. Amazing group. I led an expressive arts warm-up that was really powerful. So much hope in this workshop despite hardship. A good friend visited this afternoon and brought Chip a new toy that he loves. Yay! More toys! Then group tonight. More creativity, more hope, more resilience. No news today. I am in a news avoidance mode. I cannot bear to hear about Trump’s war and gobbledygook and to think about the children in Iran, the fury of these acts of unjustified violence against children in the name of warmongers and liars. Sickening. Oh, I avoided the news and then let my feelings spill here. Chip is in his crate going to sleep. I’m on night duty. I’m sleeping on the couch near his crate. My daughter needs a good night’s sleep. Taking him outside at night is a way to see the stars in the sky and to feel beauty and peace. Shhhh. There’s a baby in the house. His teeth are sharp, his fur is silk.
