Chocolate Chip’s First Walk with me

Well, maybe some of my readers have guessed. Meet Chocolate Chip, the surprise who met me at my door, home from my travels! Our brand new chocolate lab! Frank and I gave the go ahead last week, and over the weekend, while both of us were away, Chocolate Chip came home with Perri and Franci. And I got to meet him this morning on my return from Virginia. Heaven! It’s been a dogless year for this house and this family and we are ready for this boy. Oh, the softest fur! Wave says it’s like silk. I got the joy of going with my daughter to pick Wave up from school and have him meet the puppy since he has been away this weekend. I got to see Wave’s joy as he held him on his lap the whole way home. Wave told his mom he had a headache when he firt saw her, but that headache went away instantly when he saw his new dog. And Wave’s the one who came up with Chocolate and today, after I took him on his very first hike, I added the Chip. So, he runs so funny on his chubby legs, and he’s a trooper. We went to the tent and back and I picked him up a couple of times to warm him and he wanted to run some more. We’re gong to cover a lot of ground, me and him. I dried him off and put him in his pen on his comfy bed and he fell fast asleep. There’s nothing like a puppy to bring the family close to home. Franci picked me up from Logan Express in a free hour so she could be with me when I met Chip. These girls have showered him with love and attention all weekend. Wave said in the car: “He’s like a tiny spark that’s a whole big love.” I am so happy to be home and I made a nice dinner and I feel so much more energy with my feet in the snow and the mud at the river’s edge with a new river dog and my grandson home to fall in love with him and Frank saying he missed me and he’s glad I’m home.
