#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream
Chipper
Praise the rain; the seagull dive
The curl of plant, the raven talk—
Praise the hurt, the house slack
The stand of trees, the dignity—
Praise the dark, the moon cradle
The sky fall, the bear sleep—
Praise the mist, the warrior name
The earth eclipse, the fired leap—
Praise the backwards, upward sky
The baby cry, the spirit food—
Praise canoe, the fish rush
The hole for frog, the upside-down—
Praise the day, the cloud cup
The mind flat, forget it all—

Chippy has adapted so well to sleeping in his crate. I slept in my own bed, so well. Heard him whine at 5:45 a.m. I jumped up so happy. He had a great night, and so did I. So we had a quiet house for awhile. I worked a bit on a poem revision. At 9:00 I picked Wave up from his father as he has no school today. Perri had to go to a teacher/parent conference, so Wave and I had the morning. He played with Chip quite happily until Chip got a little nippy. All day I made deals with Wave, the negotiator, to get him to try on the wedding suit and Friday night party outfit and two pairs of shoes I bought two weeks ago in two sizes. Deal after deal had to be re-negotiated. Until his mother came home. And that added pressure on the negotiations helped tremendously. I got him to get his body into all the necessary outfits and shoes, but it was a body that wiggled and jiggled and twisted and contorted so much I was truly exhausted by the time the right sized outfits were happily chosen. He enjoyed looking in the mirror at his light blue suit, especially. Whew! Now I can return the wrong sized ones, and he’s happy. It’s working. There was a time in the afternoon when Frank, Perri and I were all with clients in our various offices, and we had to punt. Perri is a doula, and her client was preparing to go into labor. Then she did have to leave for the hospital and Frank and I have had the puppy and the five-year-old for the rest of the pleasant day. I watched a movie with him and earned some cuddling. Chippy is an angel. He’s doing all the right training and he’s a delight. Frank is giving me positive appreciation for training him. Everyone’s pitching in. He is learning: Chippy, come! Oh, and I worked on planning Franci’s bridal shower and making her a lovely photo book of her engagement photos that I think she’ll love. Snow melt is very satisfying. Spring is coming.
