#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream
March is tricky. Warm and cold. Cold and warm. Today leaned into cold, freezing. Just as I was getting used to walking outdoors and feeling a welcoming cool and a warming sun. We approach Spring Equinox, in days. Spring! Season of growing and planting, playing outdoors. I have gotten back into the pool for daily swims. Short ones. Even twenty minutes in the pool makes me feel so strong and hopeful and energetic. I am squeezing my self-time into puppy care. Frank is away. It’s me and Perri with Chocolate Chip. Both up once in the night. But he’s such a good boy. So, I read a news article this morning, an offensive absurdity: our President saying that someone who is dyslexic should never be president. Riles me up. Some of the people I love best and trust best and rely on best are dyslexic, of course. We all know them. It’s such a ludicrous statement, and it hurts young people who have not yet discovered the strengths of dyslexia and are struggling with challenges in places that don’t value and support neurodivergence. Both my groups I led today had lots of vulnerability and strength and sharing of powerful emotions and creativity in the face of challenge. Kindness and respect, we have so many opportunities every day to practice giving kindness and respect to those who need it most especially. I have taken some opportunities today to practice them today.
