Chippy Meets The Vet

Thank goodness Frank mentioned, from his car window, on the way down the driveway before it was light out, and I was in the driveway with Chippy, that his back was sore. I could barely rise from bed this morning. Frank thought his back was sore from tennis. But we both have Chippy back and shoulder strain. Training a puppy is bodily work. I felt relieved that it wasn’t just me with the exhausted shoulders and back. Everything with Chip is going well, though. He’s house trained, pretty much. And he weighs 20 pounds the vet told me at his first visit. Yes, the back pain makes sense. I had a great poetry workshop this morning. Because the conversation we had about being a poet was very rich and deep. The challenges and the reasons why it matters so much, means so much. And both my revised poems were received very well. Minor tweaks and that’s it for them. Tonight, at dusk, out with Chippy I heard the call of the Great Horned Owl. Wave was up hours too early and crawled into our room before dawn at his mother’s request. I told him his favorite movie, Demon Hunters, won an Oscar for Best Animated movie, and also the win for best song: Golden. After we got back from Costa Rica Wave insisted that we all had to watch the movie. I had my doubts, wasn’t too enthusiastic. But it grabbed me. Very very fun to enjoy it with him. Then Franci and Will invited him over for a movie night and they watched it too. If you haven’t listened, here’s the song on Youtube:
