Writing from My Photo Stream ~ Kelly DuMar

#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream

Tonight straight to bed from Zoom. A busy day, start to finish. Chippie up at 5:00 a.m. This won’t last forever. he’s a good boy. This morning I took Wave to school then took a power walk for myself on a trail along a brook. it felt good to be outdoors to be near the trees and notice things like a found feather someone picked up and stuck in the vine. No time for a poem. A client and a meeting and Grandmother Writing in the afternoon. Went deep. As I’d hoped. A writer asked if I’d considered publishing an anthology of grandmother writing and as I close out my manuscript perhaps I will consider it. I’ve been focusing on bringing in a little bit more experiential atmosphere into our group process which seems to deepen the writing. No time to work on my own manuscript today. I had hoped to visit my aunt tomorrow with Chippie but she’s still not feeling well. I’m worried about her. I want to lay eyes on her. Tonight I ran the Journal of Expressive Writing Open Mic featuring memoirist Hendrika de Vries and her powerful book, about surviving occupied Amsterdam as a little girl with her mother as they faced starvation and her mother was a member of the resistance and hid a young Jewish girl from the Nazis in their apartment while her father was a prisoner of war. When a Toy Dog Became a Wolf and the Moon Broke Curfew. She went on to become a champion swimmer and a Jungian analyst and published her first book after age 80! A thrilling night, and she was an exceptional reader and a lovely woman. So, with Wave here beside me, I will soon go happily off to sleep and hope Frank has the energy for early call with Chippie.
