#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream
Chippie in the Charles
Suddenly––summer. Wow, outdoors early and it was already hot! Threw me off a bit, to be suddenly so warm. Windows open, a breeze coming in. Somehow I eeked out a revision before workshop this morning, and I didn’t think I could. I am returning to a previous, unpublished manuscript to see what I can make of it. Keeping my mind wide open and getting some ideas about reshaping it or improving it. So workshop was helpful and inspiring. Lots and lots of time outdoors with Chippie today because Frank is away and it’s pretty much me. He loves being at the river and puts himself about halfway in the water. He gets very muddy and scrambles around in the wet shoreline that is rapidly receding as the winter melt passes and the river narrows considerably. I sat in the sun and watched him. We went, early, first trip, around the bend in a clearing on the river bank and saw the beaver paddling home from his night’s work. Well, Chippie didn’t see him, but I watched him for awhile. It just started raining. The day so clear and hot, and now the pleasant downpour pattering all the bushes and the plants. Well, Chippie to the vet. He has gained 10 pounds! The vet says he’s likely to be a 100 pound dog! Oh, my. What we’re in for! Started a new session of my Tuesday night writers, a nice group, lots of great sharing and writing. I will be so glad to have Frank home for many reasons and especially to share the pleasures of taking care of Chippie. Wave’s mother took him for his first trip to Farm Pond. I wanted to, but I had to take Chip to vet and then run my group. Perhaps tomorrow. We’re in for a great bit of early summer weather. Yes, it’s tiring and challenging to have a puppy. And to see him enjoying the river, this brown beauty, the image of Charlie, seems so good and right. An emptiness being filled. This home needs a lab to be complete.
