Red Trees on the River
Well, Chippie and I were treated to a couple of good hard slaps of the beaver’s tail this morning from his nearby swim in the river as we approached. We were out early and the hardwoods were red in the dawning light. We had a good tromp. Frank was up early with him, and I was awake but let him go because Frank travels tomorrow and I’ll be on early duty again and I’ve just gotten all my energy back. Great energy! I felt terrific today and spent a good amount of pleasant time by the river hauling brush and trimming thorns. A busy day here at home with Wave in the house all day and sometimes in the yard with us. Frank got a good amount of time with both Wave and Chippie. Making progress with training. The puppy, not the boy. I did a good go of wrestling with Wave and also I had a great morning poetry workshop and I seem to be finding some flow in revision of the older manuscript. I’m really warming up to this process, the poems are calling me and the blank-headedness and frustration have transformed. I also went on a bit of a submission binge this afternoon and evening, sending out poems and images which I have not done for a long time. I really had the right energy. Met Franci at the tailor to have my mother-of-the bride dress fitted. The tailor was very friendly and assertive and knowledgeable and I trusted her. A quick bite out with Frank, Will and Franci and some good laughs. So happy tonight. And grateful. And inspired. The red trees are singing to me.
