#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream

Frank generously gets up day after day early with Chippie, creates their rituals, leans into affection. It’s sweet. And I’m grateful for sleep. So much vitality in the air, on the earth. The woodpecker drills. The geese! They are out with their goslings, the fuzzy things, out in the afternoon sunshower on the river this late afternoon while I was there with Chippie. His favorite soccer ball got away from him. He’s not ready to actually swim. Doesn’t know yet that he can. I give him a week. I got on the paddle board and retrieved the prize for the Labrador retriever. Led craft workshop, really special and Israeli group, same. More art accepted, some art not accepted. The fledglings out of the nest! Frank found one. We thought it had fallen out of the nest at the door just underneath. He got the ladder, put it back in the nest and it flew right out! Perri looked into it on chat gpt. They are leaving the nest. The mother keeps watch, feeds them for days. We keep Chippie away, give them their space. The beaver worked on their limb last night. We played pickle on this warm breezy evening with Franci and Will and it was very competitive and very fun. Then we all walked to the river to see the birds and the beavers. We spotted the oriole that I saw earlier chasing away a blue jay. We saw a woodpecker, not the noisy one. We saw the beaver, two, both of them swimming with their mouths full of bright green grass. It was quite a rich day on the river.
