#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream
Rehearsal
A lovely start to a busy, happy day. Up early, before anyone, with Frank. He goes into Vineyard Haven to his morning meeting, and I head out on foot to walk to the ocean and around the neighborhood. It was quiet and peaceful and it was a time for me to be alone with the beautiful morning and gather my thoughts and feel present and talk to my parents and thank them, again, for all they did for me and Frank at our wedding and to feel how proud and happy they are looking down on this special occasion. I have been remembering my brother’s marriage to his wife, hear in the Vineyard, when I was just two months pregnant with my daughter Perri, and remembering my niece’s wedding here when we stayed at a resort nearby that I passed on my early walk. I walked South Beach and took some notes for a new poem. I walked for a long time and then returned home, ran a wedding errand, and by then the house was awake, everyone was busy with preparations and Frank had brought home treats from the bakery. Wave wanted very much to go to the beach, so Frank and I took him to the beach for a little while and he and I ran around and played in the sand under a cloudy sky and played in the surf. We were a bit late getting ready for the wedding rehearsal at the venue, but somehow two families got to the venue and all the groomsmen and bridesmaid and the Jacob, Franci’s friend who is officiating, and the wedding planner and others all came to the field and loved the venue and even though it was cloudy it was a very special and everything ran smoothly. Then home to prep for the rehearsal dinner and I got Wave into his clothes and we had a very very special dinner at a restaurant hosted by the groom’s family, and lots of fun and sweet speeches were given and then all walked to the welcome party a few minutes away at the Heritage Museum, also hosted by the groom’s family, and saw all the loved one who have come to the Vineyard and there was much talking and hugging and laughing and eating. Now Frank and I are pooped and yet happy to hear all the young people laughing and talking outside below our open windows as they make this night special for Franci and Will.
