#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream
Wild Honeysuckle
Thankfully, I talked to myself last night in my blog about my new poetry project. Something about this blog, actually writing it down: all writing is problem solving. And so when I had some early quiet time this morning, I opened up an article or two that I keep re-reading by the poet David Kirby that has been inspiring me, and I looked closely at two of his poems, Not just reading, but studying them, and I began to see how I could solve some of the problems I’m trying to solve in my poem drafts. It was so encouraging and helpful, so all day I felt that sense of engagement, rather than discouragement. I wanted to get back to my writing, and this evening I did. I saw something more clearly. I revised a poem. And took it OUT of the manuscript and put it in another manuscript, actually, because I could see how it didn’t belong after all. I walked under low clouds and some sun to Farm Pond this morning and had a good swim around the island. The water was cold. The sailing kids were out and came close to swimming into a sailboat. Took the longer way home and appreciated being in summer. Israeli group, and then a meeting with the Women’s Writing Collective that I’m helping to organize. Rain on and off, summer thunderstorms and tonight a pink sky and a rainbow. A day that closes wiht a rainbow is a happy day. Frank home from his brief trip. That’s a rainbow too.
