#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream
Pollinators
I have to walk in the meadows when they are so full of wildflowers and summer sun and a breeze blowing on me. A funny thing happened in the meadow today. I was walking along listening to a Jungian podcast that I love and there was no one around but me and the bees and a groundhog hiding in shrubs, and my phone rang and it was Perri calling and at the exact moment that I said “Hello?” out loud a woman who was walking in the field in front of me all of a sudden said “Hello!” to me. I could see right away that she had assumed I was saying hello to her, she couldn’t see that I was answering my phone which was tucked inside my waist pack. She was so friendly and cheerful I didn’t have the heart to explain that I wasn’t saying hello to her. So, I left Perri hanging while I said more of a greeting to the other woman, and then she knew me––and I knew her. We always run into each other once a year, not in our hometown, but on Martha’s Vineyard on the beach. Instead, this year we met here in the middle of a field. So we chatted a bit, caught up, superficially, said nice things to each other, and Perri finally hung up, and it was sweet, actually, to see this acquaintance, and we went on with our activities, went on our separate ways, and I was glad to have our annual encounter, even though it wasn’t where we expected. I took a good long walk and no swim today as I had to get back for a client, then a board meeting, then to start my next Grandmother Writing Workshop, and I was so happy to be starting a new workshop! It went great. Great writing and sharing, some new peeps and some I know well, a nice mix. I do like being quite busy. As long as I have time to be with the wildflowers. A casual dinner with Frank, going over some things. Then off to an evening workshop I attended for myself on Zoom, got a draft of some writing on the new manuscript. Nothing spectacular. But something to work with. I dropped Perri and Wave off at the auto shop to pick up Perri’s car at the end of the day, and when Wave got out —they were off to a movie — he said, “Make sure you tell me all the exciting things that happen while I’m gone.”
