#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream
Summer River Rain
Would it not be a luxury to stand up to one's chin in some retired swamp for a whole summer's day, scenting the sweet-fern and bilberry blows, and lulled by the minstrelsy of gnats and mosquitoes?
Henry David Thoreau—Journal, 14 June 1840
Rainy and cool all day. Not drawn to a swim in the rain I go instead to the high school track in the rain and walk a few miles fast. Feels good. I have a busy day ahead. Feels like fall more than summer, though. Wave not home, house is quiet. I have coaching clients and a grandmother writing workshop. I am having a busy week and I’m enjoying that. The sense of change in the air. My son moving to New Hampshire tomorrow! I have funny dreams all night. Literally funny dreams, crazy movies I make up all night. It’s fun. I like it when my imagination runs wild and free while I’m sleeping to amuse me. Almost August. Oh, leaving July, my favorite month. One more day to be gratefully in July, rain or shine.
