Fireworks at Katama Point
The bittersweet day before departure. Wave and Perri off this morning, first thing. Will’s sisters gone yesterday. Household thinning. Some packing, laundry, organizing. The stay coming to an end. Still, the sun, the heat, the breeze, the relaxation. I napped a lot, with Wave gone. A long hot walk with my friend this morning. Swimming and rest. Glad to have my son here. A poem accepted for a journal. Probably my favorite poem from the manuscript. Glad it will find a home this summer. I am ready to go home, I think. But also emotional. The end of the spectacular wedding journey and vacation that was in anticipation for so long, now going behind us. And plenty of joy left for the long summer ahead. And all the happy memories made, and the gladness of this marriage, the time so cheerfully spent with the two families, Will’s and ours. The delight of my friend staying nearby with her family. The fireworks tonight. We had a lovely late dinner and ended up walking from our house a little ways to watch them from Katama Point, a little beach with the sailboats and we could see the Edgartown fireworks from there. No Wave, though. Sad about that. So, up early tomorrow, the day spent getting home.
