#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream

Such still air. Soon

the mid-morning breeze will float in

like tepid water, then hot.

How do I start this day,

I who am unsure

of how my life has happened

or how to proceed

amid this warm and steady sweetness?

~ Excerpt from Albert Garcia, August Morning

Good morning, August. Warm and sunny with thirty-one days ahead. So long July, I loved you. Your heat and rain and blooms and swims. I don’t write this morning, I have a client’s short piece to review and send back to her, and then I go out for my walk to the pond and my good swim. It’s calm and quiet on the pond. But the geese, like clockwork, have arrived and leave their feathers on the surface of the water on the far side of the island. Their presence will increase over the coming days. I will stay more to the center of the pond. I am finishing listening to my wonderful Lewis and Clark book, and downloaded a new memoir to start next: All That’s Unseen by Emilee Hackney. The rest of the day a quiet, tired blur of rest. Both Frank and I are mostly resting today. Franci and Will in late afternoon, Perri and Wave and we have really nice, intimate, relaxing family time, and a ride for ice cream with the roof down after. Wave talking and talking so happily to Franci about the plan for his October birthday. Two and a half months to plan! He’s giddy with the excitement of it. We listen to the K-pop Demon Hunters songs to ice cream and back. Hello August. Please take your time.
