#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream

Monarch, Honeybee & Swamp Milkweed

Oh, the very quiet house. Frank departed early. I woke tired feeling the need to get a lot done, but I didn’t and that was okay. I got enough done. Went for a long walk in the sunshine through meadows and met a few monarchs and some very lovely wildflowers which is what I needed. August shows off yellow wildflowers: goldenrod, evening primrose, tansy, some wonderfully bright and cheerful blooms. I am listening to the Walt Whitman biography and thinking about my newest poem. No swim today. I am content with my long walk. In the afternoon I got to a playback theater show in Arlington with my daughter Franci who is supposed to perform but isn’t feeling well, so another troupe member fills in for her, and it’s an exceptional show by True Story Theater on the them of caregiving. Lots of people in audience, a very moving show, wonderfully conducted by Christopher Ellinger and many of my favorite True Story Theater actors perform, (minus my number one favorite Franci but she’s beside me so, at least that) and I LOVE PLAYBACK THEATER. There is so much empathy and validation and beauty in this medium. Caregivers share moving stories and the actors and music table make their stories into art on the spot. I’m moved to tears. This is such an important topic, supporting caregivers. Then I get to ride home and have more catching up with Franci. And for myself, at home, a very quiet night and I work on my poem in another overhauling revision. It’s still three pages and I think I’m improving it but who knows? I may tweak it some more tomorrow before workshop in the morning and I also hope to swim as I am feeling a longing.
