#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream
Home from Edgartown to the river which is low and the brook is dry. Late August. Great happiness to be home to my plants. I left on the early ferry and drove to Farm Pond hoping to be there in time for the annual Funbelow swim around the pond but I was too late to join the group. I swam anyway, though not all the way around. There was a chop, very hard to swim in, very unusual for Farm Pond! Some wind and I swallowed much water and felt a bit seasick. But I was glad I had a swim before going home. I realized that not having a dog to welcome me is okay, actually, because I felt all my plants were very happy to have me home, indoors and out. And even though they had been under-watered recently, I didn’t lose a single one! Even my transplanted milkweed survives in the sun! A happy day of cats arriving for Perri and Wave, a mother and son. We played pickle in the late afternoon with Will and Franci and that was fun. Franci kept saying, even though it was hot, it feels like fall. Yes. Fall. In less than a week Wave starts school.
