#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream

I plan to ride the route for the bike for this Sunday’s triathlon, and if I do it okay I’ll register for the triathlon. It’s lovely and sunny. Before I go out I spend a good amount of time revising my latest poem for the manuscript. I haven’t done much biking, except on the very flat Vineyard on our trips to Katama this summer. I’ve done this route through Dover and Sherborn many times, but not in a couple of years. I don’t love street biking. But most of the early morning traffic is done and these are all back country roads. I set off and end up enjoying myself. It’s so summery and the scenery is gorgeous and I feel fine. I’m slow. My effort, according to my Apple watch is “moderate.” Fine. There are so many hills, upward hills, on this route! But I do it in the slow time that I expect and ride home and I’ve done 16 miles and now I register for the triathlon which is Sunday. I am not considering it a race. I don’t have to be fast. I’m not competing. I just want to have the pleasure of doing the three events at my own pace. I’ve already decided that instead of doing the final run I will walk it, power walk it, I have run it before and it’s all hills and it’s no fun. Walking it fast will be fun for me. Tomorrow I’ll go over to the pond and have a swim as all I did was bike today. Wave is home. Happiness. We played fighting dinosaurs before bed. Now Frank and I are watching this historic US Open semi-final and Frank has fall asleep!
