#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream
Summery morning of almost fall. I take a very long walk before a doctor appointment (nothing serious). On this long walk I am thinking and sorting, thinking and sorting, digesting Aunt Dot’s passing and my experience over the weekend with my sister and daughter and brother and cousins. Reflecting on the past years of helping Dot and Bob transition from independent living into assisted living. The gratitude I feel for having been able to have these special years with them. To digest the loss of my last living aunt. I’ve been very fond in my life of my aunts. On both sides. I’ve had wonderful aunts and I miss them all now and each one of them has had their own generous impact on my life. I really came away from my morning ramble with some insights and clarity. Perri has shared with me how much being able to be with Dottie meant to her personally, and also how much it meant to her to share the intimate experience with me and my sister, her aunt Joanna. I moved onto my busy day with energy, despite feeling tired, and I was glad for my walk. I squeezed in a good Farm Pond swim in the afternoon which was pretty blissful in the still-warm water. Wave is home and has missed his mother so I am sidelined while he gets his fill of her. I completely understand. I like supporting her to take care of him, ran to the story to get his desired dinner. We have him here all weekend, so there is that to look forward to. I hope for a Farm Pond swim with him while the water is so warm.
