#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream
“that time in childhood” collage
Another dry day of October, warm and no wind. Some sun. High 60’s. I was sending my poems for workshop off, early, when Wave came in and sat on my couch and said, “Okay, Grammy. Explain yourself.” He was wondering how it was that I had not yet knocked on his door to check in on him about breakfast. He was up and already dressed. So, I clicked send on the poems and made him the eggs. But he didn’t like the bread. He likes Iggy’s bread because it tastes like garlic bread. So, that was a fail. And his departure was not as sunny as the dipping eggs. But I was in a better position when he came in the door from his gymnastics class after school, because I was just cutting out and baking the halloween sugar cookies. Man that kid can eat some cookie dough! I frosted them and they were quite successful. So, it was a cheerful night. Today I worked by the river on clearing. The light at the river is so giving. Quite bright and it’s lovely to clear away dead branches and trees, clearing the way for more light, more light. I had a great poetry workshop. Less emotional for me today. Not sure why I got so worked up yesterday with the feedback. Did some good wedding planning with my daughter. Made this collage. The mushroom moon from the yard. The duck from a park in Greece. It’s strange to be planning for months ahead, after fall, after winter, after spring. Happily so.
