#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream

There’s a holiday cheerfulness still in this busy day. I wake early to send poems. I go for my great swim and return in time for poetry workshop. I can only stay an hour. Frank and I are invited for grandparents’ day at Wave’s Montessori school. He is waiting at the window, watching for us. This is just the most special time of this week. It’s absolutely special. He takes our hands and shows us around all the stations and rituals of his classroom. There are other grands and the classroom is crowded and also intensely intimate. We get to be alone with Wave in Wave’s daytime world. We are on the floor and playing counting games with the Montessori materials. Wave and I are playing but there’s a girl sitting behind me playing by herself. The girl and Wave are not yet friends. But I invite her in and so the four of us play and Wave makes a new friend. Too soon it’s time to depart. He walks us to the door and we let go of hands and go back home. A quick lunch before a client. A dear friend comes by for tea and Franci shows up and our friend talks over some wedding questions with us. Very helpful. I must make a batch of molasses cookies or two. I rush these into the fridge to cool so I can bake them in time to give to a friend who is just arriving home after an injury. They are perfect and still hot when I pack them up. It’s already dark. Frank is done for the day and we go visit out friend with the healing medicine of Aunt Virginia’s Blue Ribbon Molasses Cookies. A quick visit, we get home in time to make, together a delicious dinner we eat by the fire with Franci. Then I rush upstairs to finish prepping for Tues. night group! And wow, what a group. I lead a prompt on gratitude. It’s such a wonderful community. And tonight I am full of gratitude for the work I get to do in supporting writers.
