#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream
Today I am particularly grateful for a compliment my daughter gave me at dinner––”You have amazing energy!” Yes, and I’m grateful for the energy I had and spent this beautiful gratitude day. All the kids here all day, including fiance Will and also Wave. Strange, because Frank woke me at 5:30 with the tv on and I was knocked out tired. Fell back asleep until I hear Wave being put into my bed at 7:00 when his mother had to head out the door for a bit. Yikes. I still felt knocked out. Somehow after my coffee all my energy appeared. Went for my swim, a nice swim. Dashed home to make a big family breakfast, a sit down breakfast, which I only really do on Thanksgiving and Christmas and Easter. Frank helped. Everyone happy and cheerful and present. Cleaned that up and got the turkey stuffed and in the oven before some friends arrived to play pickle on our court. Hooray! Our first Thanksgiving pickle games. The sun was out in a beautiful blue sky and it was cold, but not too cold for running around the pickleball court. I loved this time. Being outdoors around the trees and near the river. There was a cool breeze blowing through the bare trees. Really laughed and played and felt very happy under the blue sky. Then, said goodbye and ran in to make all the vegetables and potatoes. Very simple, very basic, nothing fancy, very familiar, just like my mother made Thanksgiving dinner. Frank watched over the turkey and made gravy. The kids loved the gravy! It was a perfect, relaxing meal, all of us around the table. I made wonderful desserts, way more than was necessary. Two pies and two batches of cookies and fresh whipped cream and everyone feasted. Now the house is cheerful and warm. Wave wrestling with his uncle. Franci getting a shoulder rub from me. Frank watching football. Perri playing Wave’s video game. Everything cleaned up and put away. I had a nice gift that arrived to open this morning from my Ukrainian friend who sent me, from Ukraine, a pillow cover that I used on the sideboard table to have it with us for our meal. And tonight, an email from one of my Israeli group members expressing her gratitude for our group. And a dear client, Jane, who called me accidentally, and I picked up, so happy to hear from her and have the chance to wish her a happy Thanksgiving. Lots and lots and lots to feel grateful for, especially
Wave, here for our special holiday in all of his unique personality to make us all laugh.
