#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream
Sunny morning brook
painted turtle party at Broadmoor
Lovely to sleep in my own bed and wake to sun. No school today and he’s on vacation now. I was swimming, after my walk in the wetlands when I heard from Wave that his mom was sick. So I canceled my 10:00 a.m. client. My daughter was down for the day. Wave isn’t totally himself. But when I suggested we go on a hike in our favorite place, Broadmoor Wildlife Sanctuary, he was all in. I packed him a peanut butter sandwich and we headed out. Got our nature scavenger sheet from the Broadmoor guy at the desk. And Wave studied it for what we needed to find. Painted turtles were not on it—but we find hosts of them adorning all the wetland logs in the sun. We heard and saw birds, I saw a river otter, we saw mallards and geese and the rushing waterfall. We really took our time. So many field trips of young students around us being led by the volunteers. It was a slightly cool day and I only had to piggy back him a little bit. In the afternoon we took it easy. Frank arrived home from his trip. I gave some love to my dear aunt over the phone.I played Candy Land and Trouble with Wave. I feel a bit like a sitting duck. Will I come down with the stomach flu too? I’ll know soon enough. In the meantime, I won’t go see my aunt in person as planned. I am working toward a new poem that I started drafting a bit last night. It’s nowhere near a poem yet. It’s an idea to explore. but this morning I found a way in and tonight worked on it a bit. I hope to tackle it more tomorrow. It was a very very happy lovely day with Wave in the sanctuary of Broadmoor and all the time we wanted there.
