#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream

Newborn

Door of our room and windows open all night. Easter morning. I start writing a new poem at 6:30 a.m. I write it until 10:30. I’m tired. All I want is a nap. I try and then return to the poem. Then I really do nap and wake in afternoon. Hungry and ready to swim. I will push through a really rough and not very good draft of this five page poem by dinner time. I do break for a swim. It feels strange, to be so involved in what I am working on for Easter day. Wave is not home. It’s so sunny and warm. I feel as if it’s a day to be outdoors working in the garden but I don’t do it. Late afternoon Frank joins me in the garden, just to look and plan a little bit. We find a turtle just hatched from a garden nest. Makes it’s way over the grass, under the fence post. Frank picks it up and we walk it to the quiet brook and let it go. Frank sees a massive catfish in the brook. We keep walking. Along the river. Someone has stolen one of our benches. Recently. What, they came by in a boat? There is the heron. The mallards. The wind on the blue water. Late afternoon. Easter on the river.
