#NewThisDay Writing From Photo Stream

Wild turkey mother

Amazing how late I stayed up, 11:00 p.m. or so, Eastern, and slept well and woke at my normal time, about 6:00 a.m. to a beautiful summer day. So happy to be home in almost July. True true summer days. I worked on my new poem for quite a while before going to Farm Pond and doing my open water mile swim in the glassy pond. Nothing stirring. I felt terrific in the warm water, the green water, not the turquoise blue I’ve been use to in Greece. The groundhog is eating the tops off my shrubs. He owns the yard, now that Charlie’s gone. A wild turkey came out of the grove with her little ones. She must be nesting there. She wandered quite a bit, exercising them. Today, for the first time, I actually found myself considering having another dog. Maybe in the fall. Just maybe. I loved being home today. After my swim, weeding and cutting brush, pulling vines down off the trees. I felt energetic and rested. Then, of course, there is the putting the kitchen in order, the clean out of the fridge, the laundry. No poetry workshop this morning or tomorrow morning, but tonight I met with my group and it was great to be back. Brought my poem and got helpful feedback. Got an acceptance, a very very enthusiastic one, for two poems today, which was very nice. Frank is so happy to be back in tennis. The house is quiet without the boy. My youngest came by for a quick visit. So so so glad to have had this trip, and so so glad to be home.
