#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream

Wave, Wasp Nest, Lotus, Snake, Sunflower Summer

Second summer is what it is. Wave up and wanting. Dipping egg. Then pancake. Stuffy nose. Off to school with his mom. I am off to pool at Kingsbury for some good laps. No brush clearing today. Balance of activities. That’s what I like. Revised two poems before that. Sent them off. The new one from yesterday and a fussy one from a long time ago, bringing as a first draft. Not sure about it. I am starting a new practice, it seems, of prepping dinner, really, preparing dinner mid-afternoon so it’s already to go. Today, turkey soup. Homemade. Used Sunday’s carcass. Improvised. Wasn’t sure about it, and yet, delicious! Everyone appreciated. Wave, and that matters. Two bowls. Frank and I gave him a pickle lesson in late afternoon mugginess. A sweet time. Then Franci and Will came by so we could have a chance at beating them and we did! Two games to one! Which is good for us. I played really well. Good for me! So fun. And collage is fun. I’ve been playing with this Wave triptych of sorts. It’s three frames and I’m fussing a lot with it. This afternoon just before pickle, out on the court, I found a garter snake in the field. Showed it to Wave. It kept slithering away under the field grass. Came up and Wave got too close. Little guy reared his head as if to strike. I got a picture. And it was a happy element for this collage, based on the wonderful wasp’s nest Frank found this weekend hanging in the tree. I get lost in this digital play and it makes me happy and relaxes me. There are crazy things, near and far in the land. Medical advice gone mad. Bad haircuts. Things I can’t control that make me mad. I’m grateful for a creative impulse, following it. I shared appreciations today every chance I could.
