#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream

Set the alarm and didn’t snooze it, but stayed for awhile in that liminal space of between sleeping and waking, thinking about my poem, and revision, letting it marinate for a bit. I think this was helpful. I found some things new in the revision that I liked. A new title, a few new lines, loss of some, rearrangement and I felt the improvement. So I walked with some more cheer about it. Walked in the cool morning of a fresh day, looking forward to poetry. The sun was out. In the sun I was warm, under trees I was cool. I didn’t have time to go as far as I have been. Then poetry went very well. Helpful and appreciative feedback. And it was a lively session of commenting on each other’s poems. Busy afternoon with emails and then ran to the market to make sure I had good choices for Wave’s dinner: sushi or tacos. Then met the bus and he went to the neighbor’s house to play with his friend. Coming home, the transition, and missing his mother, it was a little emotional, as I expected. Took awhile to work it out. I knew he would adjust after a bit of storm. And he did. And dinner was a huge success. I said, sushi or tacos? He said both. And both it was. And then fortunately for me, Frank had gone out of his way to get some slices of coconut cake yesterday from the North End, our favorite bakery, and I knew Wave would appreciate that. And he did! It’s his favorite and my favorite and it made the night special. We watched a movie, cuddling on the carpet under a blanket. Then a bit of wrestling, of course, and two books. And then he asked for more books, but I shut off the lights and within moments the kindergartner was fast asleep.
