#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream
Wellesley College
I got up for Chippie so Frank could sleep. I sensed he was tired and he’s been getting up so much. Had my coffee at the river and watched the birds waking up. And felt at peace. Thought about poems. Poems I’ve written, poems I hope to write. Poems I’m confused about. Thought about how satisfying and powerful the Grandmother readings were last night. I took the day off. Swam. Went to Wellesley College to walk the campus with a friend who is back in town after a winter away and it was so pretty, so unbelievably pretty, coming into bloom. And so nice to have a great in-person connection after many months. Then I had a late lunch with my dear friend for her birthday which was also terrific. And she came with me to my alterations appointment for my mother-of-the-bride gown. It’s coming along. When I got home Frank surprised, and delighted me, with the meal prep he’d done so that we could play pickle with Franci and Will. It was a gorgeous night in the yard and we beat them twice and they beat us twice and then we had a nice dinner and talked about the wedding that is nearly a month away, a little more. When I was crossing the yard near the house this morning, on the way back from the river with Chippie, a goldfinch surprised me—flew up and out of the long grass. How grateful I am for the liveliness of birds.
