#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream
Not enough sleep, but rising at 5:15 worked out well for poetry. I had the time and energy to revise two poems for workshop, and it was worth it. After sending them off I took Chippie for a good long walk to the morning river and we had a sweet time together. Chippie is very happy here, and we’re happy to have him. Also met with my monthly Ukrainian group, then off for a much-delayed fitting with the seamstress for Wave’s suit alterations and also my daughter’s maid of honor dress. Yes, finally got them both there. It was a bit crazy, trying to get an active five-year-old into a suit in a department store dressing room, one that he had no real interest in trying on, and then getting him to actually let the lovely seamstress pin his suit’s arms and pant legs. Yikes! And he didn’t like the shirt we’d picked out for the suit, so that had to be returned and more shopping to find one he liked, and then they didn’t have it in his size, and by then he was overdone and highly reactive my daughter had me drive him home and it was a bit of drama, but when he calmed down we had a good chat, and I told him about my melt-downs with my mother and how I solved them and then he was ready to call his mother and we did and they made peace and all was well and really it was that he had not eaten a proper lunch so I made him a delicious meatball sandwich and we played and it was good for me to get the time with him. Also, another sweet thing: my high school is having our 50th reunion (!) this October, and because I live in the town where I went to high school, I’m getting involved. I’ve offered to host a lunch on the weekend. The organizers of the reunion will visit next week to work on the plan. And I had a long chat with a friend from elementary school, no, actually, from pre-school, and it was so fun because I truly haven’t spoken to her in years and she’s lovely. Yes, I graduated in 1976 and it was the country’s bicentennial. It will be interesting to see what all this brings.
