Our last Farm Pond swim together before the wedding!

Last day before we leave and the sun has returned. The plants are still plenty wet. I have a lot to get done. Franci calls and she has met with the tent people and caterer and planner and has a back-up plan for rain. She says she’s going to the pond for a swim, and I immediately agree to meet her. We’ll swim together. It’s sunny and warm, the water is cool and fresh. The pond is still and quiet. The lifeguards are starting their day at the beach, and we leave on our swim around the island from the boat ramp. She will be married, and we will still be swimming, mother and daughter, for a long time. But, for now, we have cars to pack and lots to do. I work on my wedding speech for the service. I’ve been asked to give a five-minute talk during the ceremony. I have drafted lots of notes and changed my mind a couple of times. After working on it on and off all day I finished it,and printed it and packed it. Frank and I drive over to Franci and Will’s to take some boxes and bags off their hands to pack in our cars. One last hug before we meet at the ferry early in the morning. Wave is supposed to come, at 6:00 a.m. with me and Frank, his mother to follow later. We’ll see how all of that works out! I’m so proud of Franci, her vision and leadership and working with Will to create this complicated and special event. I hope she gets a good night sleep.
