#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream
Very quiet, the house, and the weather outside, too. It stays warm and muggy. August. The light dusking closer to 7 now. I have gotten up early to revise a poem for workshop, which I do and send it off. I have just enough time, it’s tight, but enough, to walk to Farm Pond, swim round the island, walk home and turn Zoom on. Yes, I cut it tight. Don’t want to squeeze anything out. The water is so warm, warmest it has been. No sign of geese on the pond except feathers. They are momentarily absent. Spending time on a nearby body of water. I walk very briskly back and arrive in workshop exactly on time. I get helpful feedback, but see some work I’ll do. Wave is home. We go to the pond with his mother to swim in the afternoon sun. He and I go to the raft. Has it been a year yet, he asks, before swimming off by himself. I swim with him and try to explain what a year is. Then he wants to do a math game. He is excited about addition and numbers and so we take turns answering math problems while jumping off the dock. I’m happy for this one-on-one time with him. He gets out when he’s supposed to get out. Wonderful! Will and Franci come for pickle. They beat us three games to two. I am not playing well, and really, neither is Frank. And it’s so humid! A quick dinner, and off to poetry with friends tonight and I’m tired! Happily so. I want to really appreciate every summer day left of August.
