It’s strange, tonight at home in bed, to realize what a full and amazing day it has been. A hot, humid, lovely August day. Awoke in Maine with our friends, had a lovely breakfast, and then drove to Boston at 9:30 a.m. Frank dropped me off in Boston and I walked a short distance at noon to the Community Church of Boston to the annual Boston Poetry Festival. I planned what I would read early this morning. I spent the afternoon listening to poets each read for 7 minutes, and during the breaks saying hello to friends and meeting new poets. My friend Karin joined me later in the afternoon, and we read back-to-back and it was great to read in public as I haven’t done so in awhile. And Karin did a great job. Then she and I drove out of the city home to Sherborn where Frank and I hosted a dinner of good friends. Fortunately, two of our friends brought the whole dinner, because I had no time to do a thing today. A lovely evening of conversation and catching up. I had no time, really, for a good long walk or a swim today, which is extremely unusual. But the day was so full and satisfying regardless. Must get up early tomorrow to work on a poem for workshop. I miss Wave so much. He’s home tomorrow.
