Farm Pond as the day winds down

In this Farm Pond picture I took tonight at 6 p.m. Wave is the small creature standing at the end of the dock. We couldn’t start our day with a swim as he would have wished, but we ended the day with one as soon as I wrapped up my Grandmother As Muse workshop at 5:00. I am liking this mid-summer end of day swims with him when the water is very warm and there are a few people around. We swam and swam, played and swam. He is trying to learn to dive off the dock and practices a few times each day. It’s challenging, to aim the head down toward the water when one is used to going feet first! So, he gets in position, bends his knees, poises his arms over his head like an arrow and leaps, but his head instinctively stays up. He can’t quite get it to stay pointed toward the water. Still, he’s in a good mood, leaves the pond easily and cheerfully. Wow, has he grown through that stage of resistance! Yikes, what a relief. He’s cheerful and chatty all the way home. And his mother has his dinner ready. I woke early to do prep for a day of meetings, including a coaching session with a client on her wonderful memoir. And for my Grandmother writers, and also a meeting of the new Womens Writing Collective. My grandmother writers were in top form—what a great session! Sorry to see it end, for now. Tomorrow a lighter day. I will have all the time I need to swim with Wave which will make us both happy.
