#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream

Sadly, the poet Wendell Berry died today. May he be “in a place enclosed in song.” I’ve always particularly been moved by his Sabbath poems. Rain today, lovely rain. I wanted to walk in it and feel it on my skin, and I did. I took a good walk in the wetness, happy for the river and plants and brook who are hungry for it. My dear friend came for tea and coffee and a long chat and I was happy for this special time on my sun porch watching the rain come down outside. Wave meets his kindergarten teacher tomorrow. I made him a delicious dinner tonight, shrimp scampi! I’m kind of brain foggy tired tonight from working on my computer. Franci and I voted in the late afternoon in the Democratic primary. We like to go to the polls together. We chatted about who is on the ballot while she was driving home from work on her way to pick me up. I had my choices made for senate and representative—both contested races, but as we talked, and I shared my ideas with her and she shared hers back to me, I ended up switching both of my votes. I like that we could have all this discussion and both keep our minds open. Gotta get some sleep, but it’s September now. Oh, September, I trust you’ll let the summer last into October!
